Hey Abel, what about a "Thanks" button or something? A lot of times I may read something and while I want to let the OP know the time they took to post something was worthwhile I may not want to write a reply. Maybe just a quick "Thanks" button so they know people are reading it?

Hopefully this hasn't been addressed too many times before, I didn't see anything in my searches on the site stuff...

I would think the star ratings for thread could cover this (at the thread level, at least). But nobody really seems to use them.
