Photo sizing for the upload to a thread - 03-09-2010, 07:43 PM

I'm having trouble loading pictures- kinda. They will load, but when they are received by the forum site, they are too big to view properly. Can someone please tell me why this is happening? I have no trouble emailing them and the size is adjusted accordingly. I tried resizing them, but then I lost much of the quality of the photo. (KB insteas of MB) I would like them to look as nice as some of the others do in the site. Help!!

Kalena, I use a image hosting site like flickr or photobucket to host the images in their full resolution and just link to them here using the IMG tags.

Go into image resize in Photoshop after editing. The width is no wider than 800 and the height should be no bigger than 900.

Then go into File name your photo
then "Save As".
Then that's when I adjust my KB.
I don't go over 290KB otherwise the site will distort the photo.
Then after that you just go into manage attachments and load that photo.
Hope that helps. I'm sure someone can explain it better than me but it's a start.

It is best to link the pictures like David said. Your pics will look alot better and you don't have to resize them.

Jimmy, can you give me some instructions on how to link the pics. Do I do this in the same area where I can up load my photos? I noticed that there was a URL spot to use also.

Thanks so much for your help.

If you use a hosting site, like photobucket for example, after you upload the image there, you can use the links from there:

to post here. You can copy and past the IMG code directly or use the insert image and just give it the URL:

Highlighted yellow is what the link back to the image will look like when you are putting together your post.

Hope this helps.

It helps, but I don't use photobucket. I have a website that my photos are located at already. I may end up loading them to two differnet places, but I hope not.

Kalena, be aware that many on this forum don't click on links to images. If I open a thread and the image is not visible, I move on.

It doesn't have to be photobucket or the like. If the images are on your website and you have the URL to the JPG, you can post that way too.

Not a great photo here, but this is just an example of one coming from my website:

and all I did was wrap the link in the IMG tags

Yeah, many thanks to everyone. As soon as I can finish my photo processing, I'll get the link up to the gallery I have for the "Horses and More Horses". That link will allow everyone to view all the galleries my husband and I have.

Y'all are Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
