TPF IP address, how to always connect? - 04-13-2010, 11:50 AM

Using work net now, getting in fine. My Windstream at home dns won't find www.texasphotoforum.com. What can I put in my home computer host table to always be able to get to TPF if dns is failing to resolve the name?

tropicpine in Houston is having the same issue. And his ISP is not Windstream. I wonder if the hosting site has a problem.

So if the host file entry doesn't work, then it can't be a DNS issue, right? Have you tried running a traceroute to see where it's failing?

Or, if you still think it IS a DNS problem, you could configure the system to use one of the free DNS servers.

I hit the 404 wall using my sprint cell phone this afternoon. Shortly after 5pm I was able to access TPF from home. As of just now I can still not access TPF from Sprint's 3g network.

Tom Hooper (user-name tomhooper) is also having the same issue (same ISP - Windstream). His communication with the help desk at Windstream indicates that the issue is with the TPF server - the site is blocking them. If anyone figures out a solution please let me know so I can pass the word/solution on to Tom.

My work laptop with domain "ibm.com" when connected via vpn to ibm, gets me here. If I disconnect from ibm, my domain becomes "windstream.net" and I cannot get here on the same laptop nor any computer here at home.

My AT&T cell phone gets me here.

When windstream.net domain:
Tracert finds its way to 174.136.62.162 as web1.texasphotoforum.com
but then no "http://174.136.62.162" gets me there, it comes up to an Apache Webserver Cpanel.

Abel, I received a e-mail from Tom Hooper (tomhooper) and he says that he is still unable to connect to TPF -- same problem. His ISP is Windstream.

I ran ipconfig /flushdns and rebooted and still cannot get here from a "windstream.net" computer. (ibm.com still works, but I can't do that on my personal computer).
