Post Edit Time Limts

I would love to see the 5 minute post edit time limit, or whatever it was, that we once had way back when come back into effect. There are more and more instances where folks go back and effectively delete their post by entering a period "." days and weeks later. That ruins the discussion IMO. The old five minute limit allowed plenty of time to see that typo after hitting submit. Now you have to hope someone quotes half the darn replies in the event a poster gets their feeling hurt and edits all their previous replies.

Except for the buy/sell section where you need to edit the OP a few times.

That would limit those threads that are routinely updated that have a list of attendees i.e.

9 times of of 10, posts that are edited, probably are 'constructive' discussion anyway. People dont go back and edit lighting instructions, or equipment questions. They edit posts where they sounded like an ass...

I disagree. It's well within the TOS to go back and edit the original post to "." if the original poster feels they want to do that. Some may have an opinion that this is "lame", but these opinions have no bearing on the situation. Making posts un-editable would drastically change the users' experience on the board.

Some forums have the "See original post" option so everyone can see if you're being a *^%#* or not.
Maybe we could get that here?
