Question Posting photos - 02-15-2011, 01:29 PM

I feel really stupid for asking this, but is there a stickie somewhere of how to add photos to a post? I can't seem to find one.

Thanks,
Erin

Hey Erin,

You have to get them uploaded somewhere first. FLICKR.com is a popular site for this.

Then get the address for the picture you want to post.

So for your avatar, it is
Code:
http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum/customavatars/avatar25911_4.gif
Next you want to put on either end of that picture address, put a [ then the letters IMG and a ] so [ IMG ] (without the spaces) the address and [ / IMG ] (without the spaces)

Make sense?

Thomas,

Thanks. That does help. I've uploaded the photos to flickr and can grab the link to the photos page, but can't seem to find a link to the photo itself? Does that make sense?

For example, I want to post this photo:
houston_ssc_01312011sheltie_speicalty_01312011__ea g3354-resize | Flickr - Photo Sharing! but, when I try what you are saying, it only displays as a red x like this:

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Try right clicking the photo so you can see the properties. You need the URL that ends with .jpg or .tif or .png or .gif.

I tried to right click, but FLICKR has it right click protected, so I can't see what the URL is to post it here.

Check this link:
Flickr: Help: Photos

I think you need to enable it so that you can get the BBS code to post it here.

I dont use Flickr, so I am not real familiar with it, but someone else can probably help with that.

Go to Flickr so you can see the photo.
Go to actions.
View All Sizes.
Right click on "Download the Large Size.
Come into TPF and click the Picture Icon (where it says import image)
then drop the link into the window that opens up.

We had two collies in our lives when the kids were at home. What good dogs they are....

If you want to post it as an attachment:

Per Abel in another thread:

How do I attach a file to a post?

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Files must be in JPG format and no larger than 900px in any direction and no more than 300k in file size.

Thanks to all for the help!

Angelo,
Collies are great! I have 4 (2 smooth, 2 rough) and they are the best pets. :)

If I'm reading my flickr instructions right I'm not allowed to share because I no longer have a pro account. I may fire them alltogeather.

Henry, you should be able to grap the link to your pictures. I don't have a pro account neither, but I have to figure out how to hyperlink the pics to my Flickr page...

Edit: (5 mins later...)
Go to one of your photo
Click SHARE
Expand Grab the HTML/BBCode
Select BBCode
Pick a size (640 is my default)
Grab the code and paste it in your message
