ya, you could look at it that way, but the reason i initial posted about it is because it's easily viewable under the post you thanked. Look at the thread i posted in my first post. Everyone can see who thanked you for your post. So instead of having to reply and make an actual post, you can just click the thank you button.
So if i asked a question and you replied with a helpful answer, i can just click the thank you button. You and everyone else will see that I thanked you for your post. It's simple and effective.
