While I wish Abel the best, I also think it's unfortunate that the success of a website is measured by growth and traffic, such that Abel feels the need to do this.

TPF being a regional site is a big part of what I like so much about it. I like interacting with local and semi-local folks, going to GTG's and group shoots, etc. You just don't get that on the national forums. TPF is different whereas most of the national forums are pretty much the same. So call me selfish, but I hope the membership remains dominated by Texans.

My biggest worry is that it becomes like POTN. I migrated here from there due to the size and lack of personal connections. Only time and local member participation will tell

This has always been my drive... from day one. I wanted 100 members... then 200 members.. then 500 members... This ideal is what has always driven me to make TPF bigger and better. I am always thinking what can I do to make TPF better... What will help attract more people... Where can I advertise TPF in order to spread the word about our forum.

It's not an unfortunate thing that growth and traffic is what i measure the success of our site by because its those things that have helped bring in all of the features that we currently have. Im always trying to one-up the competition in order to make TPF better... =)

Those regional meetups will still happen... we still have 20,000+ Texas based members... those arent going away. Now I will be having meetups in other cities as well that ill be attending from time to time as Pixtus grows.

Member base is still the same as it is now... the regional feel may be diluted from what we're used to but in the end... photo talk is universal...

it'll all work out for the better in the end. i have some big plans on the back burner to make Pixtus a site to contend with!

Congratulations. It's very exciting and I'm glad things are going well.

That being said I hope the Texas area remains strong and I hope I can keep up. I came here for the regional appeal from POTN...

I guess the take home is, see y'all on the flip side.

Exclamation Applause! - 05-23-2011, 03:24 PM

I must applaud this national expansion as it will open some of our subforums, e.g., "Infrared," to a much wider viewership and participation.

i think the broader base will be very beneficial to the site as a whole... it'll be much easier for me to bring in more members which will lead to more content, more participation, more feedback etc.

Our rules are still our rules so those that do not abide by them will still be shown the door as they are now... hehe..

our moderators are on board with this transition and with the added member base and content there will be a need for new additional mods in order to help keep an eye on things.

there will be those current TPF'ers that will not like the change and opt to abandon the new site and not come back because of the change. They are welcome to have their opinion and handle it as they see fit but I am all in on this transition and will see it through.

It'll be a fun ride! I'm looking forward to it!

Can I be the Sony mod? I think Affirmative Action requires you to have one.
