I love B&W images. It would be awesome to have a spot dedicated to showcasing it

B&W / Monochrome would be awesome. It's like a whole new art form from color.

I was going to post the same thing last night, but I decided not to.

I shoot relationship portraits in black and white. I think black and white takes the focus off the elements of the photograph and allows you to see into the soul. I would very much like to see a section dedicated to black and white.

sorry for the late response...

One reason there isn't a dedicated B&W section is so that the subject of the photo drives the category to which it needs to be placed in instead of the processing applied.

For instance:

If its a b&w bridal portrait then it should be placed in the Weddings section.

If its a b&w landscape photo then it should be placed in the Landscapes section.

I feel that having a dedicated b&w section can hurt the other specific themed sections content wise. Also, I feel that Wedding photogs for instance that are looking for wedding specific photos will need to sift thru 2 sections in order to browse for wedding photos to view and/or comment on depending on the color treatment of the shot. And even then, they will have to sift thru the b&w section amongst threads that showcase b&w images of all subject matters in order to locate those that are just wedding specific.

I have thought about this many times over the course of our sister site's time online and I have always felt that the subject of the photo should drive what category it should be placed in rather than the processing applied.

*Disclaimer: Now the Infrared section is a completely different animal. IR is not necessarily a process that can be applied to any image in post processing, it requires specific IR filters and/or major hardware modifications in order to capture an IR photo. These differences are what warrants it having its own section.

Pheeew.... I hope all that makes sense... It is still early you know.. hehe :)
