So, my suggestion would be, when you post your photos in the appropriate subject matter sections put HDR as the thread title lead to draw attention to it.

Example:
CC: HDR Killer Orange Classic Pickup

HDR is a technique, not a subject. if anything, the photos go whatever the subject matter is. Also, there is the post processing forum as well if you wish to seek out technique.

If we do get an HDR forum, then create a film forum to keep the the universe in balance. ;)

I was joking about a film only image gallery. I'm well aware of the "darkroom." :)

I sort of agree with this, but in a way I don't. I do agree that HDR is a technique as Patrick points out and I agree that it is not a shooting subject matter as Abel points out. But I don't see it as only a processing technique. Shooting the series for processing is also very important. It takes a bit of skill to shoot HDR with moving subjects for example. If the HDR series is shot correctly, the processing is trivial with today's software.

So, I would put it in the same category with Infrared, Macro and Mobile Mayhem - a shooting technique, albeit one that also requires some processing technique as well.

I really like Keith's idea of putting HDR in the title so that they will be easy to find for those of us that want to see and learn more about the technique. Hopefully many of the folks that shoot HDR are reading this thread and will do that.

I agree with Abel on this one. I see HDR as a processing technique and each shot should be presented in a forum that meets the subject matter. It is not the same as IR because that requires a camera that is converted for IR. It is not like film because that again requires a camera fitted for film.

As pointed out the Darkroom will address most questions about film. As far as macro goes it is a subject matter requiring, in most cases, specialized equipment rather than a process. Even with that there is quite a few macro shots ending up in the N&W forum.

That makes sense Jim. HDR doesn't require any special equipment. In any case, if every different shooting and/or processing technique was put in a separate forum, there would be way too many to sift through. Sometimes it is hard enough now to decide where to put an image.
