Kevin....as amazing as you are - that's more for criticism and phots themselves, correct? Mind you, I'm on my lil ole droid and I might being seeing correctly :) age has to do with it too!
But...I meant more for discussions.
Tomorrow, I will check out that thread a little better :)

And yes, Nathan....other than on sportsshooter :)

Because all the discussions would be centered around "How can I shoot for free?"

You are correct, they are both "showcase" forums.

Problem is trying to get those wedding folks to shut up....

Sports folks just aren't as chatty.

So, I am shooting my first game.

What lens do I need?

Thanks Tom..... do I need a tripod?

Chancey,

To get back on track, there have been several good discussions on the finer points of sports photography.

IIRC most of them have been in one of the other forums, IE, equipment, open talk ect.

I don't think anyone is going to get upset if you ask about how to shoot a sporting event in the Showcase-Sports section. But Photo Tips might be better. The wedding discussion is more about the business side of doing weddings.

I do weddings as well - it is not my main focus because I prefer sports. But I will never ask for tips/advice --or -- ANYTHING in the wedding section again. That was an ass whopping that I never want again.

I have checked out other sections and talk about a friendly bunch.

I think there is more to it than what kind of lens and do I need a mono or tripod.

Not to mention, just though it would be nice to meet/talk to other sports photogs also.

I agree with Tom, I think photo tips would be a good place to start for questions on sports shooting. Showcases are for photos and critique.
