Submit Your Favorite Photo Op Locales..

Hey there guys…

I’ve added a very cool mod to the forum, it’s called the Photo-Ops Map. This mapping software will allow us to share all of our favorite photo locations with other members on the forum.

We have the ability to ad various categories such as Landmarks, Churches, Museums, State Parks etc to kind of make it a little easier to find what it is that interests you. When clicking each individual marker, a pop up will be displayed which will contain important information about the location such as it’s physical address, location website, url to the thread here on the forum that discuss that locale as well as a photo taken at that location.

This mapping software is based off of Google’s software and will allow members to have the ability to zoom in and see all of the surrounding streets etc near a Photo Op Location and there’s even satellite imaging built in. If you select the “Hybrid” button while being zoomed in you will see street names etc overlaid on top of a full color satellite image. It’s pretty slick, you gotta zoom in on the State Capitol in Austin and give it a look!

Anyways, as of now I am the only one with permissions to add locations and such since it is a bit tricky because locations have to bee added per their GPS coordinates and not their physical address. With that being said I would really appreciate it if you guys as members would submit your favorite Photo Op Locations to me no matter where they are located in Texas so that we can include them into our growing databases.

I just sent you a location, I used the map link provided which gave me Lat/Long on the location. Sorry I don't have a street address, but gave you the closest intersection.

PS - See in your note that you wanted to know the "Texas locations" ... I'm sure I'm not the only one that has traveled throughout the world, so maybe it would be interesting to add "world" spots too ? I just went to mainland China and not too easy to identify a GPS location there, so might have some limitations. Anyway, just a thought. Later - and again, thanks !

Abel.I have some pictures from one of the locations already marked on here...I think you marked texas state aquarium but there are no photos..Is it possible to add to marked locations? If so how?

thanks for the kind comments guys... im always trying to make this the best resource for texas photography available.

a long time ago when lisa and i built this forum our main intent was to share photo locations with other photogs since we spent almost every weekend out and about shooting..

well the original premise got sidelined for a bit but the release of this new software has resparked my interest in mapping the locations.

barbara, feel free to post the images you have in the threads that are tied into the location and ill get the mapped points updated asap!

one more idea how about you make them html link so if I click on Sam Houston Statue it will take me to their site where I can find map, timing etc..

Actually theres an IMAGE tab on the pop up window etc that will display an image taken at that spot etc..

the image also displays when viewing the locale details page:

in order to get photos for the locales simply find post yours in the referring thread that discusses the locale (that link is in the locale details pop up window as well) and ill get them added to the main maps page.

thats on there as well...

i have listed website address for every location as well as the url link to the thread here on the forum that discusses that location.

you can access it from the List Elements Page or by selecting the little bubble show for the statue locale.

well it seems i can't figure out how to submit photos tocurrent and active markers..I have pictures from texas state aquarium in corpus...here it is if you wanna post it Abel..
I have tons more,,but maybe one is plenty who knows.?
