Oh. I didn't know it was that complicated. I thought it just grabbed the photo from the member's album. Choose me! Choose me! I'm just kidding.

I would just go random, everyone has great work on here.

sounds like another opportunity to recruit some additional people for this as well.

I know Abel needs some free time away from the forum

What if Abel just inserted one picture of his choosing for portal for a seven day period or when ever he has a chance to do it. It would not have to be the best picture recently submitted or a "photo of the week" type senario. This would keep some freshness to the page.

If Abel could just go through and pick one out quickly without spending 15 minutes looking and deciding on a a photo I think that would help.

And if he is on vacation or just real busy and it does not get changed for 14 days then we just have to look at same picture for that time until he does change it. At least it would be getting changed. As it is now with all the pictures that are shown, it is like seeing one picture because we see them so often. I am afraid that even if you did 40 pictures we would still have the same problem of those 40 becoming boring to look at just from the fact that we all go to this site so many times in a 7 day or 24 hr. period.

Never mind regarding last post. I just went back up and read Abel's post where he has to get permission from shooter. I think that would be too cumbersome to have to do every week.

how about adding a check box during the uploads asking permission to use on portal. that solves the problem of asking everybody for permission individually.

i wouldnt have the first clue in how to get that coded into the software... hehee

plus many people including myself host our own images on our server and hotlink them here on the forum...

hehee.. i just need to get caught up on some stuff and ill get some more on there... if you come across some good shots, be sure to post them in that thread TJ mentioned... thats where i go to pool images since i myself really dont have time to browse the forum (im usually working on something behind the scenes) and find candidates...

thanks!

I'm new here, so I don't know all of the ins and outs of this forum yet...but would it be possible to make the front-page picture clickable to see the original size?

Torrey...

actually I originally had the script to take you to the thread in which that particular photo was posted but i think it created an error in the display or something to that effect.

ill take another look at it and see if i can get it worked out.

thanks.... and welcome to the forum!
