If you don't have your own host (or even if you do and want to save space/bandwidth) but want a quick place to upload an image to show on a blog or forum:
http://www.imageshack.us/

It's free.

Here's one from my recent zoo trip and the first one I tried with Imageshack:

PS: you don't have to register, but it's easier to keep track of your images if you do. You can even use a free email account to do so (I used one of my Gmail ones - if somoen needs a gmail account, PM me and I will get one for you)

Steelsun,

Nice image, but I'm confused. Is the image displayed actually being linked from Imageshack? When I linkan Imageshack hosted image it includes advertisements and a lot of other extraneous information...not just the image like you show?

Thanks for you assistance.

Dick

The image above is the full size Image I posted at Imageshack.

You can also post a thumbnail, like below, that when clicked on will pull up the fullsize image you placed on Imageshack:

(Note: By "full size" I mean the 400 pixel wide image I uploaded. I hardly ever upload a truly full size (1800 to 2200) image due to it's shear size and the fact I don't want a full resolution image available for theft/copy/etc except in rare circumstances)

If you visit the family blog in my sig below, you'll see several other images I uploaded to Imageshack. I truly find it more convenient and easier to use than uploading to my own host.

Imageshack Hosting - 01-26-2005, 02:38 PM

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I didn't phrase my question clearly, so if I may try again.

When I click on the thumbnail here or those on your blog, the larger image is opened but it is accompanied with an advertisement, photo rating section and other miscellaneous Imageshack items.

When I try to post an Imageshack linked image, I get all of this extra stuff, not just the image by itself.

The larger eagle image you posted here is free of these added Imageshack items...How do you manage that?

Thanks again,

Dick

When you upload the image to photoshack, they give you several differant codes you can choose from to post with.
The one I used for the top eagle, and for the bridge below this is called "Embedded" for Forums.

It's basically just an URL of http://img193.exs.cx/img193/2736/siestakeybridge4cp.jpg
surrounded by the IMG tags.
