How To: Get Listed In Our Photographer's Directory

I am very excited to announce our New Photographer's Directory feature. Over the past few years there have been several threads where photographer's have added their business information to the forum in order to help network with other photographers in business. This has been a great tool for us to not only network with each other but to also find some referrals throughout the state of Texas.

Until now the existing format was not very easy to navigate through nor was it very easy to find. I have contracted someone to work up a custom script and have had it implemented into the forum to do just what our existing process lacked.

With this new feature you as a business owner can edit you own details such as studio name, address, styles of work you do, starting price range, general location as well as other important items. All of this information is completely voluntary so it is entirely up to you as to how much you would like to include. Members and/or visitors in general looking for a Texas based photographer can simply search our Photographer's Directory based on what it is that is important to them. For instance, someone is looking to hire a Wedding Photographer in the Greater Houston Area so all they need to do is select those two filters and the software will display every member in the directory that fits that criteria. Cool huh!?

This software is still a work in progress so definitely keep that in mind... We are doing everything to locate and work out any bugs that may arise.

Select Edit Directory Information in your User CP to get listed today.


When you upload photos to our Gallery Section of the site, the Directory will randomly display 6 thumbnails as show below! Pretty cool huh...

im currently writing up a detailed post on how to get added to the diewctory and how to upload photos in order for them to be displayed on the directory page.

Pretty cool Abel. One thing I was wondering though. It seems to be sorting the listings by the members join date. For example, new members would be at the bottom of the list. Was this intentional?

not intentional... the guy hired to code the feature did it on his own...

some sort of order has to be followed since it cant be random since it will randomize every time you go to a new page which can lead viewers to see the same profile several times and/or not see some at all.

only other way i think is alpha order or maybe just maybe in order of last update

Nice idea.

I like the sort by Join Date (member ID) instead of alphabetical.
When I do business I generally avoid companies that "Stack" themselves to teh top of a list by "AAA" whatever.

Or sorting by Last Update is good (but then you might have someone going in everyday to update one thing to get bumped up)

Maybe have a thing where Studio Sponsors are listed first, then Premium Members, then regular members?

Awesome, great feature. Is there a way to set it up to where we can also add "other" niche categories that might be searched? IE: real estate, home & garden (poplular w/ landscapers), pools & water features, etc...
