Mention Of Christmas Is A Violation Of Current Forum Rules

I am a Christian, in the sense that I believe that Jesus Christ is God, died on a cross to reconcile me back to the perfect God by being my substitute for my sins, and rose from death on the 3rd day and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. No work on my part is involved, it is a free gift from God for me to believe. Christ did all the work, we only receive His grace.

Whether anyone else believes this is their own personal decision that no one else can make for them.

This is the question that should come by mind when CHRISTMAS is mentioned.

Since this forum has a completely abstemious approach to the discussion of religion (and the mention of Jesus Christ is included in that abstention), then I would argue the discussion of CHRISTMAS IN ANY MANNER, WHETHER BY REFERENCE TO PICTURES, OR ANY OTHER MEDIUM, IS A CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE FORUM RULES.

For the rules to be consistent, either all elements of Christmas should be allowed to be discussed (including Jesus Christ and who and what He is), or all references to Christmas should be removed.

You cannot have it both ways and maintain integrity.

If I am banned for this, so be it, I cannot deny my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Oh, the only way to get rid of this type of message is to get rid of me, so that would probably be a better tactical move (if we are using military jargon).

Of course, I am complete support for people to believe what they wish. The Lord deals with each individually.

Christianity is usually at the paramount of derisive discussion because it is completely exclusive.

I am always up for heated, but respectful debate and only wish for integrity and consistency when the antithesis is proved.

Interesting, I am sure these debates/topics arise once in a while, until those that are the cause are removed. I am sure it is sinuous.

It is funny how this came about. I simply wanted to put a Bible verse in my signature under Merry Christmas.

It was modified to remove the Bible verse, but left Merry Christmas.

I was in no way sending PMs to people, or starting thread to convert anyone. People could either read or not my signature which is supposed to be a passive message, regardless.

I probably would not have thought anything else if Merry Christmas was removed as well, but you cannot do that unless you remove about a 1,000 threads revealing people taking pictures of Christmas trees, lights, decorations, gifts, families in Christmas colors, etc....

The reason you cannot remove those is because you probably would end up with so many leaving the forum that the base would become negligible for any further administration (just a guess).

Regardless, if Abel would simply allow me to put the Bible verse reference back in my signature, I would shut-up.

He will see this and I guess we will see what is consummated.

Christmas is a holiday that even non-christians celebrate. I have no clue what I'm celebrating on halloween, but I still dress up or pass out candy. It's an adaption to the culture, and normal. Banning talk of Christmas would be silly. Banning talk of religion is a very smart move. I get your point that christmas is a holiday that has strayed so far from is core meaning, and it's something that should be addressed in church, communities and with family and friends. However, this post isn't going to change our culture, it might pick a fight tho.

Pat... It seems like you've made the decision for me....

You give me the 2 choices of either allowing you to have your bible verse in your signature or to remove you altogether. I can tell you that the bible verse is NOT allowed so the only other option you give me is to remove you from the forum since you state you will not be able to drop this..

If you read the rules below I am not telling you that you can not follow whomever you chose to... I only state that your religious beliefs are to be left off of the forum.

There is a reason the rule regarding religion and politics is listed as Rule #1.. That is no accident. Since day one I have seen flare ups, arguments and heated hurtful debates stem from religious discussions which bled over into other threads throughout the forum which hinder the community as a whole rather than improve upon it. that is the reason the rule has been established. I have my own religious beliefs and i leave them off of the forum... This is not the place for them.

So as you have requested... I will remove your account from TPF... I hope you find a new home that satisfies both your needs to discuss photography and your own religious beliefs...
