Kimberley,
For the image softness: Are you doing any image resizing of the photos prior to the uploading (I am assuming that you are attaching the image, not hot-linking)? Are you using Photoshop to resize the image (if so, use the bicubic sharper option). Also make sure that the images are converted to the sRGB color space (this usually impacts color not sharpness).
When I post image in the forum, I usually use the hot-link approach and I resize the images to be 800 pixels on the long side. To hot link the image, i have the image loaded on a web site and then insert the hot-link code in the forum posting. To do this, you {img}
website.of.your.image{/img} -- however replace the { and } symbols with [ and ]. After each hotlinh code, I start a new text line (with a blank line between each hot link.
If this does not help, or confuses the issue even more, send me a PM or e-mail and I'll try to help you further.

Kimberley I just looked at your images on the post (
http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=99479). I believe that the attachment method for posting images will use the available screen width (wide screens will see two or three images across). When I shrink the width of the viewing window, I can get you images to be in a single column. Posting the image with the hot-link approach will address that.
For the softness of the images, I only see the last image as soft, and that may be caused by the means you resized the image.
