SmugMug Question - 06-21-2009, 09:13 PM

Is there an option to allow me to edit photos before a print order is executed? For an example, I upload unedited images, a customer places and order, I edit the selected images and upload for printing. Is this possible?

It is with exposure manager !! You upload a small thumbnail and get an email when someone orders it and waits until you upload a hi-res file.

just comparing to smugmug, of course.

David, the answer is yes. You can customize your gallery to allow for a print delay of up to 7 days. You can make it shorter if you like. Then when you are notified of an order, you can go to each picture and "Replace it". Sounds like that is jsut what you want to do.

Additional info: Once you are happy and the photos have been replaced, you click "Ship It" and off it goes to the printer.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Replace Screen Grab - 06-21-2009, 09:58 PM

Looks like this...
Click on "Tools" -> "More" -> "Replace"
You'll be prompted with a screen and Browse button to search your hard drive for the picture you want ot use as the replacement. Pretty easy actually.

And you can do this for any picture in your gallery. So if you decide you want to crop it or replace it for any reason, replace is the option to use.

Note: You prolly should resize the pics you upload to about 1500 or 1600 pixels on the longest side. The files sizes will be smaller and upload faster than the full size picture. Smugmug will allow the cutomer to order up to a 24x36 with that file size. If you upload pics about 1000 on the longest size, some of the larger prints won't be available for purchase. Smugmug is looking out for you.

Thanks Mike, that was the information I was looking for and couldn't find on the site.

Thanks Tom. I have a ExposureManager account too, just looking at differences, costs, etc.
