New print sizes from Bay Photo - 12-06-2010, 08:49 PM

We ‘re ramping up our catalog for the holidays. Today we’re introducing three new print sizes offered by our Pro lab, Bay Photo:

Actors and models will love our new 9×12 offerings, perfect for headshots and Tear Sheets. Get them in glossy, lustre and metallic print finishes on top of our full range of giclée canvas and watercolor options.

Panothusiasts rejoice! We now offer more options in the 12×36 size so it’s easier than ever to get a ready-made poster frame and hang your masterpiece. These were previously only available in MetalPrints, but you can get them in the ever-popular print, giclée canvas and giclée watercolor formats, now. Rock on.

For everyone else who loves the harmonious simplicity of squares, you can now print bigger and better with 24×24 prints, canvases, giclée watercolor prints and ThinWraps.

As an added bonus we have a couple of new additions to our ThinWraps line, too. They’re always a wonderful, durable way to show off your favorite pics so we’re happy to say that three more sizes just hit the charts: 24×24 (mentioned above), 10×15 and 12×18.

Now there’s lots more to love… and hopefully an option for each and every one of your photos. Check out our full Bay Photo catalog here.

Here’s to making perfect prints together,

The SmugMug Family

Zac -

I really like smugmug (and have been there for over 5 years), and like that SM is using a pro printer. HOWEVER, I really HATE that BayPhoto shares their pricing publicly. If they are really a pro printer, that isn't something they would do. (i.e. WHCC, Millers, Fineo, Forbeyon, Leather Craftsmen, etc)

This is a big sticking point to me.

Hey Thomas,

I appreciate your concern and we do hear about this from time to time. The fact is that most folks know how much prints cost, give or take a few cents to a few dollars depending on the print size. They know that a 4x6 print is going to cost them about $0.15 at a drugstore.

It looks like you are charging about $10 for a 4x6 print. Your customers know that you are in business to make money so if they happen to see the default prices they typically won't even say anything. Basically all I'm saying is that we see it as a non-factor, especially for the quality work you do. Nice wedding shots! FWIW, in all the years I've been with SmugMug I have only seen a handful of emails from customers griping about prices.

I hope this helps!
