Hey all TPF'ers...If you open your account on your Android phone after downloading the Smugmug app you will get 50% off your membership. I just found this out today when I downloaded the app. This is a great opportunity if you want a Smugmug account. They are great and the customer service is second to none!

Wait how does that work? I am in the middle of my 14 day trial. Do I download the smugmug android app and then I will get 50% off OR do I have to actually have registered using the android app?

You actually have to sign up using the Android or iPhone app to get the discount automatically. If you signed up through your computer you won't get the discount but we can still get that for you - just email our help desk or send me a PM :).

Zac...so I *just* signed up for the trial a day or two ago. Today I downloaded the app...what do we need to do to get the 50% off?

Hello TPF,

The deal is that to get the discounts from these apps you actually have to sign up through the app. If you sign up using your computer you won't automatically get the discount. If that's the case, send me a PM after you pay full price for the account and I will credit you back 50%.

Forgive me if I'm reading this wrong (I'm having a mentally slow week and it's only Tuesday, lol) but are you saying that if we sign up for the 14 day trial through the app then we can get the year half off when the trial is over? Or do we have to sign up for the year through the app to get the discount and skip the trial?

PS FYI- when I search for the app on my DROID and select to open it, it crashes. Not sure if that's on the APP side or DROID?? And is the discount for the PRO account?

Hi Kristina, not sure why your app is crashing, sorry! Could you try deleting it and then downloading again?

All accounts start off as a trial - there is no way around that. You get the discount automatically if you create your trial account through the app. If you do that, you can pay for the account through your computer and you will get the discount.

So as long as the trial account is created through the app, the discount should be automatic. Oh, and yes it's good on all account levels including Pro.
