New Smug Mug Pro User here - 03-23-2011, 10:30 AM

So last night I finally pulled the trigger and went with Smug Mug Pro versus many other services or combinations of services.

I am interested in a low cost method of customization or template that will match my branding that is already in place/created. I am also interested in making sure my smug mug pro account is set up correctly. I seem to be having an issue with my email account and have some email questions.

My info@kararicephotography is still saying "pending mx verification"...anyone know what this is about or how long it takes to be verified. And is the email center on smug mug domains the only place to go and check this email account I have created?

Kara

You probably haven't set the MX record in your DNS settings correctly. Have you used your domain before at a different domain provider?
If it's a brand new domain then don't worry. It might take up to 72 hours until all DNS servers have successfully captured your domain settings.

Nothing special but I won't need it anymore. Just saying.

You were right about the MX settings...I fixed it and it just took a couple hours to become "active." Now though, I am having issues with using Outlook Express. I even used their automated set up wizard and none of the test emails are going to Outlook nor is the Send and Receive working...says "object not found."

Anyone know of anyone who is priced reasonably willing to customize my smug mug for me? hehe Let me know if anyone of ya'll do this on the side.

WOW! Your "old" site is awesome! I had no idea, Smugmug could be modified that much. How long did that take you? Can you point me in the right direction so I can start modifiying mine?

dgrin is a HUGE help for customizing among other things. I did many tweaks to my site before they were built in options using the CSS codes they helped me with.

I am seriously considering paying someone...I don't have the patience for coding anymore...one class and two websites were enough for me.

It's not a big deal to customize a site like that. I used one of the standard templates and then it was mostly filling in your header and footer and research some adjustments (how to have buttons disappear etc). The changes itself took maybe 30 min.
I've always used the "Advanced Customizer" to be in full control of my design.

A good starting point would be to choose a standard template for yourself and place your own header in it (logo, navigation bar etc).
Let me know when you get stuck. As others mentioned, dgrin.com is a great and helpful community for SM customization. I am by no means an expert at it.

Just stopping in to say Hi and to add my customized SmugMug site. I built it a few years ago and pretty much just copy and pasted code from dgrin until it looked right.

Zac Williams: Photography

If you don't have the time, patience, or knowhow, give one of our certified customizers some $$$ and they can build a fantastic site for you.

Gorgeous photo sharing sites

Like Zac said, you can cut and paste a lot of the code from DGrin. It is pretty easy to get started.
