download from my own galleries - 02-28-2008, 09:47 AM

smugstas, whattup!

here's a question, and if it's already possible and i'm missing it, then sorry for the bother....is there a way or can you create a way that i can download images when logged in from someplace other than the bat cave?

occaisionally, when i'm out and about in gotham fighting crime and all, i need an image i don't have with me, but that i do have in a gallery. being able to log into my smugmug account and download it would be handy!

am i the only one that ever asked about that?

Will - Do you have the gallery set up for "right-click protect your photos?" If you do simply open your gallery go to the "Tools -Gallery Tools- Customize Gallery. Scroll down to Security & Privacy and under the protected button click no. This will allow you to right click on the mouse and use the save as function. Hope this is what you were asking. Make sure you go back to the Customize Gallery and click yes to right click protect your images.

Hey wp,

I don't think I quite understand your problem. If you are the owner of your account, you can login from anywhere and download your original high-res photo from your account to the computer you are sitting at.

1) Probably just have to turn ON the ability to view originals and then you can hit the "Save Photo" in the hover pop up.

2) Or you can just choose to view the Original and right click save as if you turn off RC protection.

If you are wanting to do it in bulk we have a couple of 3rd party hacks I can point you to as well, but first let me know if I am understanding correctly?

ha! as i figured, it's me that doesn't understand. i never actually thought that "original" meant......well.....original. i figured it was large in physical size but had reduced image properties to facilitate display and storage on your servers. it never occured to me it was the "real" image that got displayed.

problem solved!

When you are in the "smugmug" style, you will see thumbnails on the left-hand side of the screen and you will see a larger image on the right. When you hover your mouse over the image on the right, a pop-up will pop-up!

NOTE: If you have disabled Originals then the "save photo" at the bottom of that pop-up won't be there.

not sure where i'm supposed to see the popup....

when i hover, the cursor shows my caption, and the flyout on the right shows the thumbs, the available image sizes, and image info. no "save picture."
