They will send you an email. Go to your control panel, Sales, Help. It tells you EVERY thing. (don't worry I had to read it a couple of times, I kept forgetting!)

believe it or not, I don't really use smugmug for sales, just for image hosting, but in the time that I've had it (three years I think), I've sold or $2K. I could probably do more if I really pushed it, but I make most of my money on the front end
so to answer your question, it is possible to make money...

i've gone from power to professional so i'm all set. i do have one question.....
Proof Days.... I'm not sure about this one. I need to proof the orders to see if I have the right resolution size for the print that is request for purchase? What do you recommend for the number of days?

I put 7 for mine... it doesn't HAVE to be 7 days until it fills the order, I think, it just gives you up to 7 days to make any changes you need to (resolution, touchups, whatnot)
I think you can tell it "Ok, they're good, go ahead and print" before the 7 days is up.
I haven't had to mess with it since I changed it to 7 days so i don't know for sure, but that's the impression I get...

Okay, that makes sense. I don't think I'll be making any changes regarding touchups. But, regarding resolution.... the system allows them to purchase an image if the resolution isn't right. I know some print companys will not allow it as an option.

For that reason it is important to upload a pretty high res image to begin with so you don't lose out on sales of bigger ticket items.
