Feed Question - 09-20-2008, 03:48 PM

Is it possible to get a feed of photos from my gallery that have been marked as "featured" (with the "Feature Photo" command)?

You can always tell what pages allow feeds or not by scrolling down to the bottom of the page. If the Atom/RSS feeds icons are there, that means you can get a feed of that page.

Make sense?

Yes, but I want to collect all of the "featured" photos from my site into a feed.. across multiple galleries.

I don't have the answer for you Brad, but I may have a two step "work around". There is code(I'm using it) that will allow you to run your home page slideshow from multiple galleries based on keywording, ie., "myslideshow"

It would seem that utilizing that coding for a slideshow on a separate gallery page would allow you to then use the RSS feed from that specific page and get what you are looking for.

Of course, one would think that if it can be done it two steps, why not just modify the RSS feed code and do it in one, right?

I did but have not sent the email because he is on a week long photo shootout workshop in Moab this week.

I will send it right now.

Cool.. looks like the answer is no.. and may be in part my own mis-read of how featured photos worked -- I was under the impression you could create more than one featured photo per gallery. Since I can't do that, the feed isn't as useful as I wanted it to be. :)

I'll do it with keywords as several people have suggested.

Brad,

Are you doing this to populate a blog or something? Just curious.

The target is to populate the slideshow on the front page of my customized smugmug site.

Brad, that's what the code I'm using does. Would you like it PM'd to you?

Thanks, Ken.. I know how to do it.. I was just looking for an easier way than going in and adding keywords to the images I want in the slideshow.
