selling books for teams... - 09-15-2009, 02:51 PM

So has anyone ever tried selling a book of the seasons photos? I'm thinking something very simple...one page, one picture, a small book..maybe even something like a 5 x 7. I've not had any luck selling the action photos, which didn't/doesn't surprise me, so I thought maybe if they could get a whole season of several photos of each kid and a team photo...suggestions...ideas...experiences...wanted !!

I would do a sample and see what parents thought.

If you do it, make sure to get paid up front for the books and set a minimum # of orders. If the minimum is not reached, don't do it.

Thanks Diana, that's what I was thinking though...if you could get 20 to commit, you only produce the product once, and then you get a good profit off the other 19 (cuz Lord knows you won't be making any profit off the first one, or two , or three!!!!)

I did one last year for a volleyball team - when all was over, it was too much work for so little return. A commitment of 20 sounds good though.

One problem I ran into - many of the parents wanted their books personalized, with more shots of their own child in it. When told that was cost prohibitive, they didn't want it any more.

Print one for yourself and show the parents. I think if they see an example it will build excitement.
