Must of been 6 months since I've covered any sports. Nice to get out and smell the leather as long as your in the shade with a breeze. This field had more foul territory than I'm used to for HS ball too. Probably should of taken the big lens but I traveled light this time. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Thanks Jim. That's the one where I could smell the leather. You know there's things like that everywhere begging for a photo if you see it or smell it.

Roy, there are so many things about that photo that I like: The shallow depth of field, the green glow off the rail, and the reflection of the clouds in the sunglasses. Your exposure is perfect - no blown highlights, and the shadows are clear in the gloves' stitching. Most importantly, its tells me "these guys or girls are getting ready to play."

Jim, thank you very much for pointing out those details! You are correct about the boys getting ready to play and that's why I had my 1.4 TC stacked on the 70-200 witch took me to f4 but it did okay for the DOF. I wish I could get those qualities you mentioned in every photo. The light was working with me on that one. I didn't even send that one in for publication. The one that got published was very similar to the second one except it was published in B&W.

Nice shots, Roy!
I like the first one also. Somehow it looks oddly familiar, but yours is better.

Hi Roy,
Nice images of the Birdville vs Legacy game. In your image number two, I'm the umpire working first base. If it was you I told to move your camera bag into the dead ball area at the first base dugout, I hope you didn't think I was being a jackass...just didn't want the extra work if the ball got stuck in your bag.
Again, great images, where can we view thw others from that day?

Thanks Michael. I checked your link. You got some good action shots there and a lot of good facial expressions. Thanks for sharing those!
Hi Mark,
Yes, that was me. No, I never gave it another thought about moving the bag. I'm glad you caught it and pointed it out. No problem at all. I'm sure I got you in more shots because not much happened beyond first base before I had to leave. I was there for the newspaper so I didn't set up a gallery. Didn't think anyone would find it if I did but I could do that.
Thank you for your comment on the images and keep up the good work! There were some close calls at first base. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
