Captured this a few weeks ago after a rain shower had passed thru the area. Not the best of lighting conditions to shoot in. This was shot at 3200ISO 400/f2.8.

YUCK! I had shooting in rain no matter how unique the photos can be. (But I got one of my best shots one year in a absolute down pour. I was in the back corner of the endzone to capture a game tying td pass as the clock expired. My wife got soaking wet holding an umbrella over me in hopes we could get the shot.)

Way to hang in there Mark. Kids like seeing these kinds of shots.

Great shot! I love the image. Hey, I just started shooting HS Football on Friday nights I'm not happy with the images. They aren't as sharp as I would like them to be. I'm shooting with a 300mm F4 ISO 3200. Are you shooting them in maual focus or do have the auto focus on to track the player?

Details Jack.

While photos that are not sharp may well be caused by focusing issues that is not the sole cause for non sharp photos. Post some examples with the exif data intact and we can possibly come up with why your photos are not sharp.

Yeah David I don't like shooting in the rain either. Fortunately the rain passed just prior to game time. But was it ever humid.

Jack - I've been using auto-focus/continuos and shooting several frames at once. I usually get a few sharp images out of it. Most game that I've been shooting however the lighting is not all that good and sometimes struggle to get a focus.

I'd really like to shoot at some of the UIL games at night where the fields seem to be better lit. I was able to shoot a few games at Rhodes stadium a couple of yrs ago but understand now some polices have changed. Any one have info on how to get into these I'd be interested. I have sent emails to the athletic dept but not getting replys.
