metering and focus points - 11-01-2010, 10:46 AM

I have been doing a ton of sports photgraphy lately and have shot college and even a pro football game. I was wondering what metering and what focus points everyone uses? I have done some experimenting with settings but I am still not sure if i completely like the settings I am using.

Recently went to Spot from Matrix and I like it a little better. I use the Center Focusing point on both my 7D and 5D. I may adjust that up or down from the actual center point on my 7D for football.

See if you have a 7D http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...-settings.html

I was using spot for a while but found the results inconsistent for some reason so I switched back to matrix and it seems to be working.
Generally use center focus point.

I usually use single point with expansion (on 7D) and center weighted metering. Not much of a consensus here, Matt.

I'm much better at seeing what I should have been using after it's too late to change.

You're not shooting manual?

I've tried shooting manual several times but found that with light conditions changing over the field/court I couldn't make the necessary adjustments quickly enough and the opportunity was lost.
