Trinity Girls LaCrosse: Images - Lots - 02-17-2011, 11:05 AM

I am not a sports photographer but because of the 'You have a nice camera' mentality (g) I have been elected as my daughter's LaCrosse team photographer.

Here are a lot of images from the Texas A&M tourney weekend. How do I improve? I try to follow the ball and action, genrally use Aperture Priority and Continuous focus on my D700.

I apologize in advance if I have included too many images, I don't normally post into the forum but do want to improve this aspect of my photography - if for no other reason than my daughter's team.

Seems to me that if you are a good photographer and understand light, action, and your camera, you can get acceptable results even in an area you are not practiced in.
Nice ones. I like the ones with their faces showing.

Thanks everyone. I prefer the face shots also, just can't get there every time so I look for the better action.

The team shot was fun, me laying on my back with the 17-35, a corded SB900 off camera laying on my stomach. "Okay girls, look over here.. Kyle - look into the camera - Okay girls everybody look into the camera."

Boy, Ray...these are pretty darn good considering you've not done a lot of sports action in the past.

I really like your use of limited depth of field in a couple of the shots which creates a storytelling frame - such as 13 and 21. And that group pose shooting up (#20) is top notch as well.

Good stuff.

Ray, I think you did a darn good job of shooting. The sport looks like it is a real challenge to shoot the action as it is happening on the field. I really like #2, #6 and #17 as well as the group shot.
