So I was wondering where you usually stand during the game. I'm guessing along the fence inside the field? And I love 1,2,10

Nice range of emotions. #15 captures the 'little' in little league very well.

There are many factors that determine where I stand.
  • I'm all over the place during a baseball game. 1st base side, 3rd base side, and in & out of the dugouts. Once an inning has begun I DO NOT change positions until that inning is over. If I need to get to the other side of the field I will walk outside the gates, walk around, and enter on the other side.
  • Rapport - At many of the fields I shoot at, I've built a rapport with the leagues' board members. This can takes a few years. I'm allowed to stand any where on the field (outside the foul lines) I choose.
  • Age Level - This is a huge factor. The older the kids get the faster that baseball flies off their bats. Around the age 11-12 and lower is where I feel comfortable standing on the fields.
  • Coaches are Kings - Even if I get permission from the board and umpires a coach can still deny me access to the field. It's all about the kids and nothing gets in the way of their safety.

I like the emotion of determination you captured.

And the boredom kid, lol. Great stuff.

your black and white, is that a filter type of thing or just color taken out? It looks really detailed in the black and white.

Thank you Shiladitya. Those two were characters. They kept all the parents and myself entertained for the entire game.

Thank you Jason. Over the past year and a half I discovered those close ups sell just as well as the action shots, at least for the younger ages. I've made a concerted effort to concentrate on those type of shots during a game.

Thank you Ray. That youngster sat at shortshop for most of the half inning. It was pretty hot that day.

I use a Photoshop/Lightroom plugin called Silver Efex Pro 2. There are many preset included but I only use a few as a starting point then tweak some settings until I'm content. It's one of my favorite plugins.

Love these, all of them. I just scrolled on down with a smile on my face.

I'm going to have to get Silver Efex... Everytime i see a fantastic black-n-white image it turns out to be edited with that plugin.

Fun stuff Sonny. I wish I had the time to enjoy Little Leaque Season, just to darn busy with the studio and other stuff.

Sonny can you give me some knowledge? I'm on a co-ed softball team and due to a ligament tear my wife won't let me play tonight. So I'm gonna grab the camera and take some pics. I'm kinda wondering what's a good shutter speed for a bunch of middle aged, trying not to pull a muscle, out of shape players?

I would go for the highest shutter speeds possibly along with the widest aperture your lens allows.
