Bat on ball exercise - 07-19-2011, 11:23 AM

Critique: NC:

Finally had an opportunity to test my one frame/swing at a baseball camp a couple of weeks ago in Seguin. Really works. What I did was to imagine myself swinging at the ball and when the bat makes contact with the ball, I squeeze the shutter right before I made contact with the ball...I'll use that from now on. Bad thing is, baseball season around here is pretty much done for this season...

Nice work. Now if I could only envision myself actually making contact with the ball ....

If you don't mind a drive to Houston and just want some practice the TASO umpires' scholarship tournament is September 7th-8th.

Very good! It takes some practice, but after a while you get to the point where you have bat on ball as often as not (and it looks like you're there). I used to shoot enough baseball to do that, but I would have to start all over again now!

Notice how one guy has his eyes closed.
I used to play softball at UT and if my coach saw that
I would have been benched and trenched.

Imagine shooting w eyes closed ... hitting with eyes closed is a no no no.

Thanks y'all...
It was a lot of fun, and a learning experience to be 'out of body', but it seemed to work for me...others might have a different way of doing it.
As for the camp, my son in picture 2 was the eldest player there, while many of the kids were in the 12-14 age bracket...the young boy with his eyes closed
was new to the game and still has some baby fat...
I was lucky, three of my photos (none featured here) made it into one of Seguin's local newspapers. Nice ego boost.

My story is a brief one, actually I just really began to get back into still photography since last October, when I bought my Sony @33. Bought some lenses, but found the 33 was just a little limiting, so then I bought a @850 refurbished, and love it so far...just
need the opportunity and the time to shoot...
