Going all Andre Johnson on Patrick Edwards

Hilarious tackle:

No call (that's UCLA's QB)

Sumlin being Sumlin

He shanked the kick immediately after this:

You can tell by the look in his eyes:

Late touchdown

Keenum's not sad about getting a 6th year

Man, these are great. I just got a 400 and it's a bear to track action with. Your shots make it look so easy.

No way.... I was struggling all game. I shot a few with the 7D on the 400 and it was just too tight. I love the thought of a 640mm 2.8, but in practice, that just doesn't work well. The 1.3x 1D3 worked well, though. I've been shooting with a 300. I can hand hold the 300, but just can't with the 400. So I have the smaller view, shallower DOF and the cumbersome monopod to all adjust to. It was definitely a struggle.

Great images. The shots don't show any struggle.

Were you starting at 320ISO to maximize shutter speed? I would have thought a lower ISO at the beginning of the game and a slower shutter speed would still have been sharp. Although I don't think noise was an issue in any case. I just always think about what I read "lowest ISO possible" or is that somewhat moot on tday's better DSLRs?

The clouds were going in and out, so it was changing about 2-3 stops in exposure. As low at 1/1600th and as high as 1/8000th. So I wanted to pick and ISO that would allow me to change my shutter speed on the fly and keep a nice fast shutter speed.

Canon's real full ISO marks are actually 160, 320, 640, 1250, 2500 - so your noise will be lower to be there - so that is why I usually stick with one of those.

I think that when exposed properly, iso 100 and 640 and everything in between are going to be about the same, especially considering none will be printed large.

Thanks, Sharon and Bryan. I love that last one too!

Top shelf work Tom. I have to agree on the 400 being a bit too long on a 1.6, and I also feel a 1.3 is pushing it. Im going to drop down to a 300 next week. I think it will give me a bit more room to work with.

Very good work Thomas. I like your captures on #7 and #10 with the focus of the players eyes.
