My very first sports effort - 10-13-2011, 07:18 PM

Critique: CC:

In this school, I have a grandson in the band and a grand niece on the cheering squad. So while photographing them I thought I would branch out a bit.

Below are the best of my meager efforts. These were taken from the first row bleachers between the stream of butts passing by in front of me.

Lens is 75-300 5.6 ISO 1600

Some things I learned;

1) 1/60 is way too slow for football especially at night.
2) I don't have a fast enough lens
3) I need more practice panning
4) I need more practice focusing
5) I need more practice composing
6) I really suck at this
7) I need more practice
8) This is FUN!

Don,

Having fun is the important thing in amateur photography but you're going to get frustrated pretty quickly with your current equipment. Have you considered upgrading?

Yes I have, but my pocketbook says "NO!". So I push my equipment to and past it's limit. It's a challange.
