Youth basketball

This is a discussion on Youth basketball within the Sports forums, part of the Showcase category; I'm struggling with the focus. The photos just don't seem sharp....

I struggle with that too! Focus looks great in 2 and 3 although I can see some motion blur in her hands and the ball. I think that is OK though because it shows movement.

Also 2,3 look a little under exposed and the lighting is a little flat. I adjusted the levels and bumped the contrast a bit in PS and the image popped a little more. I didn't repost because it is hard to work with a 57kb image.

You are doing a good job of catching the action though! good facial expressions and the ball is in the pic. You also did a good job of keeping the background clutter (fans, other players etc..) out of the image

2 and 3, Nice action, framing (no chopped body parts). Get rid of the white sign in bg of #2 before you sell it to Mom and Dad. : )

If I remember correctly #1 was taken with my Nikkor 50 1.8G at iso1600 and 1/640 ss. I did brighten it a bit in LR3. #s 2 and 3 were taken with Nikkor 70-200 2.8 at iso1600 1/500 ss. I neglected to brighten these two. I cleaned all three with noise reduction in LR3.

I noticed the white sign as well. I was able to crop it out of #3. But, the angle in #2 wouldn't allow it. And, well...since I am dad and don't stand to make much money off myself, I didn't mess with getting rid of it ;).
