Every year, the Hueco Rock Ranch holds a climbing contest at Hueco Tanks State Historical Park. I went out and shot it and ended up with these. Hope you enjoy them!

This is a Self Portrait I took the first night I got there:

I'll have more from the day before the contest and the two days after. I pulled a tendon in my forearm, so I was unable to climb, only take tons of photos. Enjoi.

p.s. Some of these guys/girls are some of the best climbers in the world traveling all the way to El Paso, TX for this event. Hope that helps give some insight to what you are seeing.

neat set of stuff there. I think there are a few REALLY outstanding ones, but I'm just too tired right now to go back and ID them. Good work!

Great shots. That looks so fun. Just shows what kind of athletes these people are to be able to climb rock walls with no equipment. Looks rough on not only the hands, but just the whole body, especially if you fell.

Very cool! How often do they fall? Was that one kid hurt when he fell?

wendy- no he was ok. people fall all the time. I think you kinda learn how to after a while.

lscottpht- Thanks! I'm stoked on it too. It was a 30 sec exposure at f/4. I walked into the frame after about 10 seconds and pointed the headlamp at myself. I'm happy with the results!
