Anyone ever shoot at Pizza Hut Park w/o credentials? - 10-28-2006, 12:21 AM

Hi all:

I'll be watching the FC Dallas game in Frisco tomorrow, and I've never been to Pizza Hut Park before. I was wondering if anyone has sat in the crowd and been allowed to bring in a 200mm or less lens along with their SLR's and not have to have a press pass or other credentials? I am of course capturing these for myself and not to sell.. it's not like I can compete with the mega telephoto lenses that sports shooters use. :) I noticed their policy states that your lens can be no longer than 12" (and my lens meets that requirement), and then in the very next sentence, it says professional cameras aren't allowed. What do they consider "professional?" I only have a 30D and a 20D... but if I'm just using it for leisure here, can they still call it professional? I searched previous posts of pictures from FC Dallas home games and saw some superb images, but I had no idea if they were for official assignments.

Thanks a million!

Roz

Neither the 30D or 20D are considered "pro" cameras by Canon. I would say if you have the battery grip for either, leave it off and the camera will be much smaller and not look so much like the bigger pro cams. You also might try perusing the Canon website and see if they have a list of what they consider pro cameras. Print it out and take it along showing that neither of your cameras are included. Worth a shot.

Good luck.

Wil (ParkImaging) brings his D200 and a 300 2.8 on a regular basis. As far as I know, they've never bothered him.
