Something that I have not paid attention to is the Metering mode settings. The manual explains the differences on Evaluative, Partial, Spot and Averaged.
Currently, I am shooting HS volleyball in an average-lit gym. Great lighting never seems to have been on anyone's mind when designing HS gyms. Before shooting volleyball, I do set Custom White Balance using the image shot of a gray card. Manual mode, ISO 1600, 1/320, F2.8, AI-Servo using a 20D with Sigma 50-150 F2.8 HSM. The metering is then set to Partial. My shots turn out OK after running them through Noise Ninja.
I am thinking that I should be using Center-weighted so that the camera can meter a wider area beyond the center focusing point. Or, should I leave things alone? What are some of you using? And, why?
Thanks for your input.
