tigers little league lots of pics - 07-29-2008, 11:51 AM

I had the pleasure of shooting my son's little league team this season, thought it would be more fun to capture the season via action shots, along with std portraits and put together a photo book for the parents and kids. Hopefully the kids can look at the book a few years from now and have fond memories of sharing the field with their friends, and us parents have memories of our kids growing up playing baseball :-).

C&C welcome, always helps me learn.

6. this was the cover of the book, actually had wanted to shoot this at dusk, light up the hat and ball, and have the team in a semi circle maybe 15 feet back, arms crossed, or a bat over a shoulder, a little attitude. I just couldn't get it organized, so this is what i ended up with.

7. we won the little league world series!...ok it was posed we didn't really win but it was a fun shot non the less.

10. Look at that form! Elbow just above his shoulder, launch point just in front of him, eyes on his target, wow....ok my envy of this picture has nothing to do with the fact he's my son.....ok it does, my favorite player

12. he was pitching, batter popped it up to the mound, you got it he caught him out!, and instantly looked at the runner at first for the double play! Runner jumped back on the bag but he knew what to do! Not technically a great photo, but, hey every picture of my kid is great!(to me of course )

You might want to crop no 2 and 3. Overall there good shots. I am not expert by any means though. The homeplate shot is a nice unique shot.

Fun series Sunjay, I especially like nbr 14, you caught the action, emotion and intensity in the shot and the comp is very good.

thx Pankaj!

Armando are you thinking on 2 to cut out some of the bottom? or just tightly frame around the ball and the player? For 3, I left the runner in the picture to give the viewer a sense of urgency to stop/catch the ball and tag the runner. Were you thinking to eliminate the runner?

Leon, thx for the comments!

Dont get me wrong, I understand why you wanted to show the runners on those shots. I just felt like the action on number 2 was the player catching the ball and not the runner, so a tighter shot would be more appealing.
The 3rd shot was the second baseman catching the ground ball and not the runner, again just an appealing issue. Keep up the good work.
