Looks like your doing good to me. Something that really got me when I went from the 300 to 400 was keeping it steady that far out. I have experimented with a bunch of different ways to keep it steady and have controlled movements and that really helped. Got some interesting results while I tried different approaches but once I got what was comfortable it made a big difference compared to how I had always held my 300.
The other thing that the 400 makes much harder is figuring out where the heck to be watching. Anticipation plays a much bigger role IMO with the 400 than with other lenses.
I don't know if any of that helps but I know for me it was like re learning to walk when I got mine and that wasn't the first thing I expected. Good luck!
