Spring Sports Timing - 04-02-2009, 11:59 AM

Unfortunately my timing has been HORRIBLE this year. Having trouble adjusting to the new D700 when it comes to batters whether softball or baseball.

Got a couple of good ones last night. Here is one of them.

Jason, it's just the beginning of the season. Timing will come. That's a good shot of b on b.

D700 is a fantastic camera body if you can't afford to go with the D3. If I had to choose I would obviously choose the D3 if money was no object, but as it is I am VERY happy with the D700!!!

Nice ball on bat. I have better luck with softball, but haven't captured baseball yet... my patience may be shorter than yours Jason.

I had one of those last weekend...and my timing isn't totally off...my deal is that if I just try to shoot a single frame, I'm more successful than firing off a bunch...

Yeah firing off one at a time is the best mode of operation when trying to get a BOB shot.

I know what you mean about timing, Jason. I don't think I've gotten a single BOB shot yet this spring. Oh, well.... I'll keep working at it. It's not like I'm wasting film or anything.

As for the D700.... AWESOME camera, no doubt about it. I used to say that I would have bought one (instead of my D3) if I would have known that it was coming out..... however, when it's a paid shoot with real money on the line, nothing beats the confidence of knowing that I have dual memory card slots and that I'm doing an automatic backup every time I shoot.

The few games I shot my timing was off... then have not shot anything recently so I can only imagine my timing is worse now :)

Nice shot Jason!

Yeah the dual memory card slots would be a nice feature. One of the things that I hate the most about the D700 is the battery pack only holds one battery as opposed to the old D100 that held two.

No you can put one in the body and then attach the battery pack, but that's annoying, as I leave my battery pack attached 24/7.

I also heard the shutter is only rated for 150,000 actuations :(. I didn't know that. That is somewhat disappointing if true, as I will need a new shutter at the beginning of next season :(.

I'm hoping to get the chance to pop off a few at Dell Diamond soon in one of the press pits, since the Express are getting ready to lauch their '09 season. I want to exercise my 70-200/f2.8!
