Nikon D300 : @50mm : 1/40th : f6.3 : 200 ISO : Manual Mode
This might not be a good example since it's not "right out of the camera" Just a simple Sepia tone applied though and minor sharpening.
*Edit: And added vignetting The lens does not have any noticeable naturally.

Thanks | Not the greatest picture, but this is straight out of the camera, no sharpening done. It might not be the best example for you since I shot it at 800 ISO. Nikon D300 : @35mm : 1/40th : f/2.8 : 800 ISO : Ap priority

Looks like there might have been some camera shake too...
I'd like to see if 17mm is wide enough for vehicle interiors.
I'm trying to decide between the Canon 10-22 or 17-55. How much difference does 7mm make?

Anyone try it for sports? In this shot, there's a Vivitar 285HV in each corner fired by cheap ebay triggers. I shoot sRAW with custom white balance, and in this one, all I did was use color picker for white balance adjustment before converting to JPEG. This lens could benefit from a HSM. It tracks decent. For half the price of a Canon, I am getting good results.
Canon EOS 40D
Tv (Shutter Speed) 1/250Sec.
Av (Aperture Value) F3.2
Metering Modes Evaluative metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 1600
Lens 17-50mm
Focal Length 21.0 mm
White Balance Custom
AF mode AI Servo AF

I have used it some for basketball and I have gotten some good shots with it. It is great for shots at the basket while along the baseline on my 40D. I would recommend trying it in portrait orientation.

I have this lens and I don't like it. 99.99% of my images backfocus, doesn't matter if it is at 2.8 or 16 etc...
I seriously want to throw it against a wall.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Breezy, What camera body are you using? While it may not be quite as precise on focus as some of my other lenses, mine is only off by a little bit with my lens and my Canon 40D. Note that the focus range still captures my focus point. This was done with shooting a focus test target at 45 degrees and looking at the sharpness of the scale on the page. This may also be something you can contact Tamron about and they do a calibration of your lens. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
