This lens (for a Nikon mount, at least) has been out of stock everywhere for months. FINALLY, bhphotos.com got some in stock, and mine's on its way. I can't wait to try it out.

I've had this lens for a number of years, using it on Konica-Minolta and now Sony DSLRs. I also have friends who have it in Nikon and in Canon mounts. We all agree that it is a great lens for the price. It is cheaper than the camera brand equivalents, but is as sharp, if not sharper. It is very field hardy, focuses pretty well (for a macro lens) and is easy to manual focus.

It is my primary lens (along with my 300 f/4). I shoot thousands of photos every year with this lens and I can always count on getting excellent results.

If I lost mine, and even if funds were unlimited, I would still buy this lens over the Sony/Minolta equivalent. I would do the same if I was a Canon or Nikon person, as well.

I'll "ditto" what Sandboa Chris said. A great lens, easy to move from auto to manual focus, great sharpness, and bokeh like buttah!
