The guy I bought this one from said he thinks it might be a bit sharper wide open than the L lens he replaced it with

This is really on my mind for my next lens as well ... I keep hearing this Tamron lens to beat out the Sigma and Tokina Lenses in the same range for Third Party Lenses.

Great shot of that Wooden ... um ... is it a Hindu Statue???

I bought the 24-70 L to replace my Tamron, The Tamron was certainly sharper in the center wide open. The colors were better on the L along with the AF. I have since ditched the 24-70 due to the weight and got the 24-105 L. I also got two fast primes in case I need more speed.

To be honest, I miss my Tammy :(

In Colorado this past summer, I snapped the shot below in a hurry.
I was messing around with my other camera and the 70-200L on it, while my better half and son were making fun of me, so i wheeled around with my camera that had the short lens on it (Tamron 28-75 2.8) and took this one.

These are SOOC with nothing other than resizing the full one to fit here, and the 2 100% crops out of that shot.

ISO 200, 1/200, f5 @ 68mm

Nikon Mount:
So far very very nice, esp for the cost! Tried several test shots under high contrast/white and also overexposed, saw no CA.

I used to have a Nikon 28-70, and well...this little Tamron...seems just as good so far...and NO CA Yet!

Here is a crop, lens was at F2.8, and this was the focus area.
JPG, Straight out of camera. D300.

Bought this lens used from Amazon, and I'm already in love! It's very sharp and quick and has beautiful bokeh.

Taken with my 40D at 400 ISO, 1/60, f4.5 at 57mm focal length.

I left some images before here, but I feel compelled to post these since this thread was bumped recently. I shot a wedding last week and I fell in love with this lens once again. For the price that I got it, this is insane quality. The sharpness combined with the gorgeous bokeh is just a package full of win.

edit: I should mention that this is without sharpening. Straight out of LR with only exposure and WB adjustments. Slap an USM on this lens and it's gold.

I'm in Love :) - Today, 03:59 PM

I just picked this lens up last friday 02-10-12 and at first blush I'm in love. I bought local, thanks Arlington Camera and had to try 2 different ones, but love the copy I ended up with. Here are a couple shots from a quick test shoot I did with it.

Shot on a Canon 40D.
These were shot at ISO 100, 1/160 sec F 2.8 at 75mm
