I've seen a bit from this lens, Seems quite versatile, while still producing some sharp images.

How is the focus speed and accuracy? I think I would like this as a general travel lens.

Give us some more details!!! :)

Overall I like this lens a lot. The focus speed isn't that great though, especially at 270mm. Cameras usually need at least f/5.6 to focus, and at the long end this is f/6.3. With that being said, this doesn't make a good action lens.
So, as long as you're not trying to shoot sports without a lot of light, you should be pretty happy with it.

D2X with Tamron 18-270mm, shot at 32mm, 1/60 s at f/8, ISO 100

I am new to the forum ... and just saw this thread.

I own an 18-270 Tamron ... and honestly with enough light out ... it's actually not to bad in sports. ... I need to find a shot that I did with the lens zoomed all the way out.

I have found though ... if you do any inside shots ... better switch lenses. Something faster obviously. I sometimes shoot bands in a fairly lit stage ... but even that's not enough light.

I will say that the vibration reducer on it works TOP NOTCH ... love that about it. but like Toad said ... it focuses quite slow. I use manual focus most of the time to overcome this in faster situations.

Here's one of many I took last weekend at my wifes cousins house down near Houston. It's not a bar, it's his garage/bar.
Now I know what my next remodeling job will be. He's worked for probably every distributing company at one point or another.

This is currently my only lens in addition to my kit lens (I've never actually shot with my kit lens). Here are some shots I've taken with it.
