Why We Are Different (#2) Learning After the Class
How many times have you attended a class or workshop and when you got home, it was difficult to remember what was said? We know that with the sheer amount of information obtained in any workshop, it can be hard to keep up.
It is for this reason that every participant at a Tom Maddrey Images Workshop gets a copy of the seminar notes. These notes include each and every slide we look at, as well as handouts, points of interest, and lots of other goodies. We also include sponsor materials like coupons, sample packs of paper and much more.
But perhaps the most important part of learning after the class is the ability to email us and get a quick, human response. Photography is a learning process, and we encourage each participant to keep in touch, ask questions, and stay involved. We all learn more that way!

A Business View of Photography March Speaker :: Tim Carey, Carey Design Studio
March 25th, 7PM - 9PM :: $39 Advance / $49 Door
Over and over again, we hear from photographers who are looking to take that next step and elevate themselves and their companies from just breaking even to breaking through. While sometimes it is the quality of the work, more often than not, it is the knowledge of running a business that needs help. Marketing, Web Design, Networking, Taxation, Accounting, and so much more must be a part of every photo business. Join us to hear a new guest speaker each month, partake in Q&A sessions, and meet other photographers!
This month, we are proud to welcome Tim Carey, principal web designer at Carey Design Studio. Tim specializes in websites of all shapes and sizes, and is well versed is the viewing and design habits of most visitors to websites. Tim has worked on all of our websites and his vision and skill can turn your ideas into a reality.
Tim will answer many questions including, "What type of website is best for photography, HTML or Flash," and "How can I implement E-commerce into my site?"" You will have ample opportunities to ask questions and see examples of Tim's work. As always, dinner will be provided, and the networking sessions will be wonderful opportunities to meet fellow photographers and friends.

Alaska: The Inside Passage July 19-23 OR July 26-30
For many photographers, myself included, Alaska is the premier destination for photographing nature and wildlife in North America. I have been thrilled to visit and lead workshops to Alaska for many years, and once again, we are taking an amazing trip to Juneau, Alaska to photograph whales, eagles, icebergs, glaciers, and so much more. This summer we will be teaming up with Captain Jay Beedle, a life long Juneau resident, and one of the best captains I have ever worked with. Read on to discover more about this amazing trip to Alaska.
What makes this trip unique is its intimacy. For session one (July 19-23) there will be a limit of six photographers, which amounts to three on each boat plus a workshop leader. These smaller vessels allow us to get right into the action and get closer to glaciers. Also, they are less intrusive on the wildlife we are seeking to photograph. For session two (July 26-30) there will be a limit of three photographers.

Wildlife in Montana October 22-27, 2009
In the Summer of 2007, I traveled to Montana to photograph at a game ranch that specializes in providing photographers the opportunities to photograph animals that they may never get, even after years in the wild. The Triple D Game Farm, located in Kalispell, MT, is the premier location for photographing healthy, well-cared for animals of all kinds. These animals are ambassadors for their species, and it is through compelling photography that the plight of many of these creatures is brought to light.
I was so impressed with the location and the people that I signed up to lead a four-day workshop there in May of 2008. We had another wonderful year at the Triple D, and have decided to return for the third year in a row. This workshop, which is limited to eight people, will include three days of shooting many of the different species, and a fourth day dedicated to Digital Printing and Workshop Management. I will also have an assistant who is a professional photographer as well. That means two leaders for eight participants. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, enjoy, experience, and live wildlife photography in a way you have never seen!

Digital Workflow feat. Lightroom March 28th, 2009
NEWLY REVISED for LIGHTROOM 2!!
As photographers of any skill level, we are faced with the daunting task of editing, cataloging, saving, printing, and organizing our images. Without a consistent workflow, this task may seem impossible. This day long seminar will follow the paths of our photographs, from start to finish, as we determine the best way to use Adobe Lightroom to manage our digital workflow.
Every feature will be discussed, and every question answered as we try and trace the best path to save us time, money, and frustration when working with our images. The morning sessions will discuss workflow from the ground up, why we need it, and how the newest software can cut in half the time spent working on images. No matter if you are a professional wedding, commercial, portrait, or landscape photographer, or even a dedicated amateur, this class will set you on the right path to consistent, time-saving editing.
