NASCAR - Samsung 500 (8 images)

After a soggy weekend, NASCAR finally got to run both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide races (15 drivers drove over 800 laps in one day - whew!).

I was positive it was going to be a bad day due to low fan turnout but in typical Texas fashion, I was proven so very wrong. The fans showed up! and gave those great backgrounds you crave as a race shooter.

Anyway, here's a select few from the Sprint Cup race...

This was the story of the weekend. Blowers, dryers and damp, wet pavement. Each crew dried their own pit stall:


Ryan Newman's helmet (Army car #39). A favorite of the service men & women attending the race:


Fans did not let weather or Monday's come between them and their racing. All fans with tickets to either Sprint Cup or Nationwide could watch either or both races. Fans who had traveled and had to leave were not so thrilled...


Kevin Harvick pit stop. Good crew:


Tony Stewart's pit stop. Take a look at the guy at the far left looking for something he lost...


Now take a look at that same crew members face as he was able to catch that tire before it caused his boss headaches:


Going away at turn 1. Sure wish I would have been here for that monster wreck that happened toward the end of the race...


And here's your winner, Denny Hamlin (#11) as he just holds off Jimmy Johnson to win the Samsung 500:

Great shots as usual Joe. Sorry to have missed it. Where's the photo of you hanging out of the cutout on the straight away?

Our races were scheduled for the same weekend and after setting up on Friday night, races were cancelled on Saturday and had to tear everything down and come home without any photos taken.

Sweet Nascar photos. I use to be a Ryan Newman fan and Kevin Harvick fan ... I don't watch Nascar anymore though, lately been following Indy racing and Lewis Hamilton.

Anyways, Sweet photos again. And love the info on Tony Stewart's tire guy. Nice.

That last photo seemed liked he either almost spinned out or doing his victory drift.
