Balloon Race Planes

Went to the airport this afternoon to see what we could see, but did not want to fight the traffic in this heat. Shot these from next to the fence north of the runway near the airport parking lot. My first time panning while focusing.

Auto focus could not find the planes so I had to go manual. (Probably my inexperience) I see that I need to slow the shutter a bit, and they are a bit on the soft side.

Did not see any baloons and did not stay for the glow. Too hot!!

I'm finding more and more to aim my Canon at everyday. It is exhilarating .

Hey don, I like your shots! some cool formation captures! we decided to go see the glow tonight and it was fun, learned that the glow would have probably been better from where you shot these as the balloon sitting right in front of me was the last to go up due to some technical difficulties but it was still fun. So I don't thread jack I will post one in here in a new thread.

Too hot is right. My kids and I came to see the balloons but decided not to go in partly because of the heat.
I found it odd that we didn't see any balloons at all though. I have been in town on the day of the race several times and watched them floating all across town throughout the day.

Kinda funny.. I didn't see the planes because of the heat.. but did go for the races in the mornings and the glow sat night (which I think most of the people there were there for the concert not the balloon glow) I've added some pics to my post in the open forum if ya want to take a look..
