At this point is the propeller still in the water or just out of it? |
Kyle, in this pic it is about a 50/50 on the prop. I have seen this one run several times so I know the charicteristics - gives a good show. Two things were in his favor. He just came around a corner and was trying to trim out and his speed was not max - they can reach 140-150 mph. Also he was going with the wind. Had he been trimmed out going either way or into the wind he most likely would have lost it. The wind is trapped under the boat (tunnel hull) giving lift allowing it to run on the edge. These boats are highly tuned and balanced. Also there is a special talent the drivers have and in controlling. There is a lot more into these than people realize. I love to watch them - and take pictures. Thanks for looking.
