The effect does seem a little overdone, but to me it's really noticeable due to the distracting background and bright halos. There is a nice edge along that curb back there to do a selection and remove that background and replace it with something more simple like some grass and a row of trees, a field with an interesting sky, etc., etc. to draw the viewer's attention to the car. This would give these images a whole new feel. It's also very helpful after doing the tone mapping to zoom in and see where you can mask in some detail from the original image, especially in the shadow areas. Not too much though if you want to keep the artsy overall look of the image.

The first one is an interesting image. Good composition. Has a graphic comic book look to it. Good tilt of the camera. And overall I get a sense of movement and speed that goes along with the subject.
The second one is not doing anything for me at all. It's missing everything i mentioned that was good about #1.

My biggest issues are the the photo's are blurry... but, it looks like you tried to lemonade out of them and I can't fault you for trying. Just remember, this isn't about so much criticism of you as an individual but, of the product you released.

Take the good with the bad. And if someone leaves you positive feedback work with it. If someone leaves a not so desirable comment, ignore it. Grow some thicker skin and learn something from the experience.

these are just way too over processed with bad haloing too much saturation. it's just an assault on the eyes.

sorry, but if you're going to put your work out there on the internet, you have to be ready for criticism. i understand it can be over the top criticism sometime, but you just have to have thick skin and move on.

my best advice? try focusing more on the shot and less on the PP. the shots are rather mundane. take the time to set them up next time and they won't need so much processing to be interesting!

good luck.

I love 'em! Especially the color ones (second in both series). I don't care what you call it, HDR, tone mapping, LMNOP, whatever. It's very edgy and cool looking and I like it.

I've found that this type of look as well as the painterly type of edits are not usually very well received on most photography forums.

My only suggestion would be to get rid of the background stuff. The columns and buildings distract from the car.

As soon as you go public with your work, you are always open to critics...positive and negative. Enjoy you work and your inspiration. I have placed many images around and have people tear them up.
The important factor is that you like it and it meets your intent.

Keep capturing images and enjoy your efforts.
