Nice car!
#8 is kick a$$. Try shooting it at Arbor Hills too.
First nice car photos. (Car is nice too:)) But every time I see that model I think of a tube of Lipstick. I have no idea why. Maybe because it is sleek. The front kinda looks like the end of a new lipstick.
Do you know how fast that thing will go ;) Shh, don't tell, it will get you in trouble!

When you turn your camera on, does it return the favor? Check out the NEW Pixtus Photography Cheat Sheet!
Thanks - I'm still getting used to it but so far I love it.
I went out to Arbor Hills yesterday when I was looking for a place to shoot these pics - it was packed full of people (no surprise given how nice it was outside) but also there wasn't any portion of the parking lot that was surrounded by trees or other "interesting" background. Maybe that water area, but even that was below the level of the parking lot so getting it as a background would be tricky.
Maybe it looks like a tube of lipstick because it was the first BMW (maybe any car?) designed by women. :) The lead designer of the exterior was Juliane Blasi and the lead designer of the interior was Nadya Arnaout. I do like the way it looks and like the layout of controls on the interior - go ahead, insert pro-female comment here.
AIt's actually not all that fast - its top speed is electronically limited to 130 MPH - if it had the sport package the limit would be bumped to 150 MPH.
These were shot at the turn around at the end of the parking lot. It was late so not as crowded. You certainly have a nice model to shoot. BTW, this is a friend and fellow TPF member's car. It's sweet too!
Wheel face should be turned towards the camera, wheels are much more attractive than tire tread, lol, otherwise good set!
Nikon stuff and some other stuff...
78novacaine,
Did you hang out on Steve's Nova site?
When I had my 66 Nova I think I remember you.
In fact I think I sold you shirts or hats.
John
I am the hat guy...goo goo g'joob
JOHN
I hate you!!!! she said jealously.
Yessir, I used to be on that site a while back when I still had my 78, it's long since gone though
OP, you are welcome, it really is a good set minus the wheel face issue, however, I would like to see a shallower DOF on some shots as well, just my humble $.02 from someone who got into this hobby strictly for shooting cars!
Nikon stuff and some other stuff...
The last two were shot wide open - I agree though, shallow DOF can really make the car stand out so maybe next time I bring my 100mm 2.8. And as for getting into the hobby to shoot cars, this was my first time shooting a car so I know I have a lot to learn. I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades-ace-of-none photographer.![]()
If you are considering getting more into this side of the hobby I would also recommend picking up a CPL to cut down on reflections and glare. Also, really wide angles can be your friend! EX:
