I'd like to see the first one with more
Color and without the sailboat.

The second one I feel is shot too high.

The last two I'm all over. They are my favorites.

First. Number your images.. Easier to critique.

1- Your crops are too tight. Also, read up on the rule of thirds. Very important in automotive photography.

The Rule of Thirds put imaginary lines across the frame at 1/3rd intervals, this concept has been used by photographers for ages, and it works equally well for automotive as it does for portrait or fashion photography, naturally this is just like any other rule, it can be broken on occasion, but try to think about it when you have a car in front of your camera the next time.

2- On the first photo turn your wheel towards the camera.. Show off that wheel.

3- You've got some green thing going on in front of the back wheel.

Are you using an editing program or are these straight out of the camera?

I live in the DFW area, if need any help give me a shout.

Here's a redo of the first taking into consideration the various comments. I wish I had used fill on the front and realize the front wheels may have been better turned to the right.

Agreed on the second - it's too high.

Thanks on 3 and 4.

Thanks for the comments.

1. Good point. I'm familiar with the rule, but apparently let my crop close for sports mentality creep into this.

2. Agreed.

3. I can't see the green either on my monitor or in print. Hmmm.

These were shot in raw with 1dIII and 50 1.2. Processed in LR2 and then CS5.

This was my first time shooting cars after reading up on the subject. It's tougher than it looks, especially with regards to lighting. I have one 580, but no strobes or reflectors so I'll have some challenges unless I make a trip to the candy store.

Next subject to practice on is a new M3, so we'll see how that goes.

I may take you up on your offer one day. Thanks!

Yep it's there. I just wasn't seeing it. Probably from looking at them too many times. Thanks for directing my attention to it.
